I don’t know about you all, but I have been running into little problems with Vista. For instance I’ve run into programs that won’t run, but after rebooting they magically reappear to be working. Secondly, I have seen my hard drive churning and churning when there is not activity on the computer at all and some services are turned off. Anyone seen these items? well, I think by now Microsoft has seen an overwhelming emails and “Dr. Watson” reports that illustrate the growing, but “already a problem” of the Vista little problems.  Hence, Welcome Vista SP1, actually Beta now.

In a Computerworld article from December 6th, they go into detail of what changes Microsoft has made. As a note, the primary gist of the article is how Microsoft is addressing the “kill switch” feature of Vista that after 30 days of not registering with Microsoft, Vista will move itself into “reduced functionality”mode. This mode will cause the pc desktop to turn dark, program icons vanish and you can only use the browser for a hour before you get logged out. On the other hand, it will allow you to copy your files that are stored.

With SP1 pending deployment, I am one to say “finally, Thank you!” to Microsoft.

Paul

PS- On most of my machines, I’m still running Window XP SP2, just for stability sake. :-)
