Microsoft Softgrid application virtualization is an awesome option for larger organizations with mutiple applications that need to be run on the same pc/server, that have conflicts with other programs or use mutiple programs for a limited time and don’t want to install an application on each pc if it is used just once in a while. With Softgrid, applications are not installed on the pc, but on a application server streaming with RTSP to the desktop. This allows pc desktop/laptop images to keep clean and you won’t have to purchase 500 licenses of Office, but possibly 250 if only 250 are using the program at the same time (this is something for you to review with Microsoft). I’ve wanted to read into this for days now, wondering when it will come out, well, it’s here ! With the Tech bomb in 2000-2002, the tech industry has been slowly struggling back into the black with salary increases and bonuses. Recently in a Computerworld survey they polled 9,000 workers to come to the conclusion that in 2007, the average tech salary rose a total of 3.7% compared to 3.1% of 2006. If you were a manager, you saw an increase of 4%, but staffers saw an average of 3.6%, still better than 2006. Go to the Computerworld 2007 Jobs report and Salary survey page and read how they came to the conclusions, but also how to improve your chances of getting that higher salary adjustment or new position.
