In a recent article from Reuters it seems we are looking over the edge at a possible Google Phone.  Another article from CRN networking blog, it seems there is more talk about a possible phone, but is it really going to be all what is cracked up to be? will they only offer Google searches, calendar, mail and apps?  I guess it’s some good things to think about, but I think it just be something cloning the Blackberry or the plethora of Windows Mobile devices.  I’m hoping this will point us to WiMAX and possibly an all 802.11 wireless device with VOIP rather than the day to day CDMA technology. Any thoughts on this?

Article from PC World: Here’s a snippet.

Intel and other companies have formed a group to promote the USB 3.0, which should deliver more than ten times the speed of the existing USB 2.0 standard.

The third-generation Universal Serial Bus interconnect will transfer data at speeds up to 4.8Gbit/s, ten times faster than USB 2.0’s 480MBit/s. It will be backwards-compatible with USB 2.0, which is backwards-compatible with the first USB 1.1 definition.

Intel stated that the USB 3.0 specification would be optimized for low power and improved protocol efficiency. The USB 3.0 ports and cabling will be designed with both copper and optical cable capabilities, meaning even higher speeds will be possible in the future.

On Wednesday, Microsoft sent out and update for Windows Desktop Search 3.01 WSUS (Windows Desktop Services (WDS) 3.01) on the scores of enterprise machines even though admins had configured their system to install updates only for existing programs and the search program wasn’t installed on any machines.  This really does not effect personal home computers, but we’ll see in the next couple of days if the “infection” is moving to home pc’s.  You can read the whole article here from The RegisterDigg also  also carried the story.

Apple today is releasing their OS X 10.5 Leopard with over 300+ new features.  This has prompted me to think if my Quicksilver 1.4ghz, 768mb of ram machine will be able to handle this and I’m anticipating a big NO from a lot of users who have already upgraded to Leopard.  Please if anyone has comments, it would be interesting to hear about it.
